The health benefits of apple cider vinegar and raw honey taken on their own are quite extensive. Both are powerhouses when it comes to nutrition and health. When combined, these benefits become even greater and more positive for our bodies. As well, the honey can sweeten the vinegar, making it easier to drink. The combination of these two ingredients is so helpful to our bodies due to their chemical properties and numerous interactions with the body and bodily processes. Apple cider vinegar is alkaline when consumed. The same can be said for honey. Both ingredients raise the alkalinity of the body when eaten, and work tremendously well together to rid the body of unwanted acidity. They then then help to create an environment in our bodies with a protective pH level, allowing us to function at our best and healthiest.

To consume both of these amazing sources for our health, mix about 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoons of vinegar with 1 teaspoon of honey in a glass of water. If you are just beginning to enjoy the mixture, start with 1 teaspoon of vinegar until you have become used to the taste, and eventually move up to a tablespoon. Consume the drink about 30 minutes before eating. Many choose to ingest this first thing in the morning upon waking up on an empty stomach. For best results, use organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and raw honey. You will want to check the label of the vinegar to look for “mother of vinegar”, to tell if it has not been processed. Be consistent with taking this drink, and try to make it a part of your daily health routine for best results. Honey can also provide natural energy and increase athletic performance. This is intensified when mixed with apple cider vinegar as they can maintain glycogen levels and improve recovery time. Honey also has similar anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. These properties can help to reduce ulcers and other types of gastrointestinal disorders. Lastly, honey contains a good amount of flavonoids and antioxidants which can help reduce the risk of heart disease.
