Students in my courses should follow these instructions for configuring their grammar and style checker in Word 2007. One immediate benefit is that Word will automatically edit as you type so that you do not have to worry about how many spaces you insert after a period or whether to put a comma or period inside or outside of the closing quotation marks: Word can be set to apply the correct rule in each case.
