The Birch mattress is an all-natural bed that uses organic cotton and wool fibers to create a structure that’s as eco-friendly as it is cozy. Though green sleepers may already be sold on the organic materials, I’m not yet convinced this bed is worth its weight in gold (or, um, you know… wool).

To figure out if this mattress could actually be the one for you, I put it through a series of rigorous tests, which helped me determine how it feels, how it moves, and just how comfortable it truly is.

Birch is on a mission to build the world’s most comfortable and environmentally conscious sleep products. Though it’s hardly the only brand to launch with this aim, I am impressed by the company’s dedication to its materials, all of which are sourced from sustainable supply chains. Additionally, Birch also gives 1% of its sales to the National Forest Foundation, a commitment to the environment that I love.

Though we’ll be focusing mostly on the Birch in this review, we will take some time later on to compare it to two other eco-friendly bedding brands: Avocado and Zenhaven. But before we do any of that, we’ve gotta figure out what’s going on underneath this bed’s cover!
